Triangular Thinking

Are there reasons parents, professionals, and children find it difficult to get along with each other? Listen…

“Well, that new teacher always has Mary doing the same boring letter…”

“The IEP Team never knows what goals are appropriate…”

“I never agree with the principal about anything…”

“The only way to teach John is to let him warm up slowly in the morning, but this teacher is so…”

“I told the therapist what I wanted, and he didn’t…”

CAN YOU HEAR “ZINGERS” AND JUDGEMENTS IN THOSE WORDS?  CAN YOU PREDICT WHAT WILL HAPPEN?  NOT MUCH!

The problem is these statements are one-way thinking, it’s all-or-nothing behavior, and it’s confrontational, oppositional, adult-thinking.  IT DOES NOT WORK BECAUSE IT IS TRIANGULAR THINKING.
